Chrome Hearts Sizing Guide: How Hoodies, Tees and Jeans Fit
Chrome Hearts clothing is usually described as true to size with a relaxed cut, hoodies run roomy and Matty Boy pieces run small. Here is how to size each one, using official measurements.

Chrome Hearts clothing is generally described as true to size with a relaxed, roomy cut. Hoodies are often oversized, so many people who want a closer fit go down one size. The main exception is the Matty Boy line, which resale sellers consistently say runs small. The catch is that Chrome Hearts does not publish one universal size chart. Measurements are listed product by product, and the older or rarer the piece, the less you can rely on the size on the tag alone. This guide covers what is known, what is not, and how to check fit before you buy.
A note on sources. The general fit advice below is the guidance repeated by established resale sellers, not an official Chrome Hearts statement. The measurements are Chrome Hearts' own, taken from size guides on its online store. Where something is our reading of those numbers rather than a published fact, we say so.
The short answer: does Chrome Hearts run small or big?
It depends on the garment, so it helps to treat each category separately instead of looking for one rule.
- Hoodies and sweatshirts: roomy. Many have an oversized fit. Take your usual size for a loose, layered look, or go down one size for a closer one.
- T-shirts and long sleeves: usually true to size with a generous cut, meaning relaxed rather than slim.
- Matty Boy pieces: they fit small. If you want your normal fit, size up.
- Jeans and pants: sized by waist number, but the tag and the measured waist do not always match, especially on reworked vintage denim. Measurements matter more than the label.
None of this guarantees how a specific garment fits. Fabric, era and cut change from style to style, and Chrome Hearts makes limited runs, city exclusives and collaboration pieces that do not follow a single pattern.
What the Chrome Hearts size guide shows
The most useful hard data sits on the Chrome Hearts online store, where each product carries its own size guide. Several of its hoodies, including plain and printed styles listed in 2024 and 2025, share the same chart, measured in inches. They are listed as 100 percent cotton and made in the USA. Here is the chart as published:
- XS: shoulder 21 1/2, chest 24 1/4, sleeve 25 1/2
- S: shoulder 21 7/8, chest 25, sleeve 26
- M: shoulder 22 1/2, chest 25 1/4, sleeve 26 1/2
- L: shoulder 23 1/8, chest 27 1/2, sleeve 27
- XL: shoulder 24, chest 29 1/4, sleeve 27 1/2
- XXL: shoulder 25 1/8, chest 31 1/2, sleeve 28
How to read the chart
Two things stand out. First, the chest numbers are too small to be around-the-body measurements, since a 24-inch circumference would not fit an adult. They are flat widths, armpit to armpit. Doubling them gives a rough circumference of about 48 1/2 inches for an XS and 63 inches for an XXL. That is a lot of room, which is why these hoodies read as oversized.
Second, the steps between sizes are uneven. From S to M the chest grows by only a quarter inch, while M to L adds two and a quarter. If you sit between two sizes, the actual numbers are a better guide than the letter. A 21 1/2-inch shoulder in the smallest size is also wide, which fits the boxy, dropped-shoulder shape owners describe. That last point is our reading of the numbers, not a Chrome Hearts description.
One caution: this chart covers specific recent hoodie styles. It does not describe zip-ups, thermals, knits, older pieces or collaboration items, which can be cut differently.
How to size a Chrome Hearts hoodie
Start from the look you want, not from the size on your current tags.
- Pick the silhouette. Oversized and boxy means your usual size. A cleaner, closer fit means going down one.
- Measure a hoodie you already like. Lay it flat and take the chest width under the arms, the shoulder seam to seam, the sleeve length and the body length.
- Compare those numbers with the chart above, or with the measurements for the exact piece you are considering.
- Think about layering. A hoodie worn over a tee fits differently from one worn over a jacket or on its own.
- Allow for fabric. Heavy fleece, thermal linings and knits drape differently, so a number from one style does not carry over automatically.
If you shop pre-owned, remember that cotton can shrink or stretch with washing and wear. The size on a tag describes the garment when it was new, not necessarily how it measures today.
T-shirts and long sleeves
Resale sellers describe Chrome Hearts tees and long sleeves as true to size with a generous, relaxed cut, so they hang looser than a typical slim tee. In practice, tees are the easiest category to buy in your usual size. Ask for the chest width and length of any pre-owned tee and compare them with one you already wear.
On our t-shirts and tops pages, every listing shows the size and a condition rating, so you can see exactly what you are getting before you ask anything else.
Matty Boy: the line that runs small
Matty Boy is the nickname of Matt DiGiacomo, a Los Angeles artist who has worked with Chrome Hearts as a creative director. His Sex Records line launched in 2018 at Maxfield LA with Chrome Hearts co-owner Laurie Lynn Stark. Highsnobiety described it as part artist series and part talent incubator, more casual than the mainline and aimed at streetwear. Collectors often write it as Chrome Hearts x Matty Boy, and it includes hoodies, tees, long sleeves, shorts and hats.
On fit, the guidance is consistent. Resale sellers say Matty Boy pieces fit small and recommend sizing up from your normal Chrome Hearts size. If you like them slim, take your usual size. If you want them to sit like a regular hoodie or tee, go up one.
Because many Matty Boy pieces were limited drops, fit can differ between releases, so measurements beat any rule of thumb.
Jeans and pants
Jeans are sized by waist, and this is where the tag is least reliable. Chrome Hearts makes its own selvedge denim, and it is also known for reworked vintage Levi's with leather cross patches. On the official store, a 2022 listing for one selvedge jean offered tagged waist sizes from 27 to 38 inches, while its size guide listed measured waists from 28 to 41 inches and inseams of roughly 30 to 31 inches. The two lists do not line up one to one.
Vintage denim adds more variation, because older Levi's can measure differently from their tag. Our guide to Chrome Hearts cross patch jeans covers the donor models, waist measurements and what to ask for. Pants and sweatpants follow the same logic. Ask for waist, rise, inseam and leg opening, not just the number on the label.
Collaboration and city-exclusive pieces
Chrome Hearts has worked with many partners over the years, including Comme des Garçons in 2007, BAPE in 2009, Off-White between 2015 and 2018, and Drake in 2021. Some pieces were sold at a single store. The Drake Certified Lover Boy capsule, for example, launched in May 2021 exclusively at the Miami store.
Limited, one-off runs rarely come with a published size chart. Treat each one as its own garment: read the tag, ask for measurements, and compare them with a piece you own.
Checking fit before you buy pre-owned
Sizing mistakes are expensive. The Chrome Hearts online store lists no returns or exchanges on the hoodies and jeans above. At Once Legos, we are an independent reseller and are not affiliated with Chrome Hearts. Every piece is authenticated and physically held in New York, each listing shows the exact item with its size and a condition rating, and all sales are final apart from two narrow exceptions explained in the FAQ. Because of that, we would rather you get the size right before you buy.
Whoever you buy from, ask for these before paying:
- A photo of the size tag, plus measurements: chest width, shoulder, sleeve and length for tops; waist, rise, inseam and leg opening for denim.
- The condition rating, and a clear note on any wear such as fading, stretching, shrinkage or repairs.
- Whether the piece belongs to a line that fits differently, such as Matty Boy.
- A photo of the piece worn, if one exists.
The simplest way to remove the guesswork is to try it on. Our NYC Showroom is appointment only, private and one-on-one, and you can try pieces on before you decide. If you cannot visit, browse the hoodies and message us about a specific listing.
Frequently asked questions
- Does Chrome Hearts run small or big?
- Resale sellers generally describe Chrome Hearts clothing as true to size with a relaxed, generous cut, and many hoodies are oversized. The Matty Boy line is the exception and is said to fit small. Because Chrome Hearts does not publish one universal chart, check measurements for the specific piece rather than relying on a general rule.
- Should I go down a size in a Chrome Hearts hoodie?
- Only if you want a closer fit. Many Chrome Hearts hoodies are cut oversized, so your usual size gives a loose, layered look. Going down one size gives a cleaner fit. Chrome Hearts' own hoodie chart lists flat chest widths from 24 1/4 inches (XS) to 31 1/2 inches (XXL), so comparing those numbers with a hoodie you already own is the most reliable method.
- Does Matty Boy run small?
- Resale sellers consistently say it does and recommend sizing up from your normal Chrome Hearts size if you want a regular fit. If you prefer a slimmer fit, your usual size may work. Limited drops can vary, so ask for measurements before you buy.
- Is there an official Chrome Hearts size chart?
- Chrome Hearts lists a size guide on individual product pages of its online store rather than publishing one chart for the whole brand. For example, several hoodies share a chart with shoulder, chest and sleeve measurements in inches, and a selvedge jean listing has a waist and inseam chart. Those charts apply to those styles, not to every garment.
- How do I measure a pre-owned Chrome Hearts hoodie or tee?
- Lay the garment flat and measure the chest width straight across under the arms, the shoulder from seam to seam, the sleeve length and the body length. Compare these numbers with a piece you already wear and with the chart for that style, if one exists. Cotton can shrink or stretch over time, so measure the piece as it is today.
- Can I try Chrome Hearts pieces on before buying from Once Legos?
- Yes. Our NYC showroom is appointment only. Appointments are private and one-on-one, and you can try pieces on. Pick a time on the appointment page, then message us on WhatsApp and we send you the exact address. Once Legos is an independent reseller and is not affiliated with Chrome Hearts.
