Chrome Hearts rings are sold in standard US ring sizes, including half sizes, so the number on a listing means what it means on any other ring. What changes the fit is the band. A wide, heavy sterling silver band feels tighter than a slim one in the same size, so if you are between sizes or buying a wide ring, go up half a size. For chains, 18 inches sits just below the collarbone and 20 to 24 inches hangs lower on the chest. The sections below cover how to measure, how to read a pre-owned listing, what resizing involves and how to pick a chain length for a pendant.

A note on sourcing: Once Legos is an independent reseller of authenticated pre-owned Chrome Hearts and is not affiliated with Chrome Hearts. The measurements here come from the standard US ring scale and general jewelers' sizing advice, not from a Chrome Hearts document, so treat the band-width tips as starting points and try rings on whenever you can.

How US ring sizes work

US ring sizes are based on a ring's inside diameter. Each whole size is 0.032 inch (about 0.81 mm) larger than the one before it, and a half size sits halfway between. These are the sizes people search for most, with the inside diameter of the ring and the circumference your finger would measure:

  • Size 6: 16.51 mm inside diameter, 51.9 mm circumference
  • Size 7: 17.32 mm inside diameter, 54.4 mm circumference
  • Size 8: 18.14 mm inside diameter, 57.0 mm circumference
  • Size 9: 18.95 mm inside diameter, 59.5 mm circumference
  • Size 10: 19.76 mm inside diameter, 62.1 mm circumference
  • Size 11: 20.57 mm inside diameter, 64.6 mm circumference
  • Size 12: 21.39 mm inside diameter, 67.2 mm circumference

Because the steps are so small, half a size is easy to feel in a heavy ring. Chrome Hearts rings turn up in half sizes, and the ring listings on our rings page show the size, for example Size 7.5 or Size 10, so you can compare it with your own measurement. There is no separate men's or women's scale. The same numbers apply to everyone.

Rings listed in other sizing systems

Rings that come from Japan, South Korea or China may be listed in East Asian sizes, which use a different set of numbers. On the standard conversion table a Japanese 14 is a US 7 and a Japanese 20 is a US 10. If a listing does not say US, convert before you buy.

Do Chrome Hearts rings run small?

It is one of the most common questions, and the honest answer is that the sizing is standard but many of the rings feel snug. The reason is the band. A wider band covers more of the finger and sits higher, so it feels tighter than a thin band of the same size. Jewelers generally advise going up half a size for wider styles, and Chrome Hearts makes many wide, sculpted bands in solid sterling silver, so the question comes up more often than it does with a plain thin ring.

Shapes you will come across on the resale market include CH Forever and engraved spacer bands, floral cross and dagger cross bands, oval cross rings, plus rings and cluster rings. They range from slim stacking bands to wide statement rings, which is why the same size can feel different from one to the next. Spacer rings show the effect clearly. They are made in different widths, including 3 mm and 6 mm versions, and the same size feels noticeably different in each.

Use these as starting points, not rules:

  • Slim bands and stacking rings, around 3 mm: your normal size is usually right.
  • Mid-width bands, around 6 mm: start with your normal size, and go up half a size if your knuckle is larger than the base of your finger or your hands swell in the heat.
  • Wide, sculpted or cluster rings with raised crosses, floral work or stones: go up half a size, and measure your knuckle as well as the base of your finger.
  • Between two sizes: take the larger one.

How to measure your ring size at home

You do not need a special tool. A strip of paper or a piece of string, a ruler and a few minutes are enough.

  1. Pick the finger. Fingers on the same hand are not the same size, so measure the one that will wear the ring.
  2. Measure at the end of the day, when your fingers are warm and slightly larger. Cold hands and early mornings can give a reading that is too small.
  3. Wrap the paper or string around the base of the finger, mark where the ends meet, and measure that length in millimeters. That is your circumference.
  4. Compare it with the list above. A circumference of 54.4 mm is a size 7, and 57.0 mm is a size 8.
  5. If your knuckle is wider than the base of your finger, measure both and choose a size in between.
  6. Repeat the measurement three or four times, ideally on different days, and take the larger size if you land between two.

If you already own a ring that fits well and is a similar width, measure its inside diameter in millimeters and compare that with the list. It is often the most reliable reference you have.

Reading a pre-owned ring listing

On a pre-owned ring the size is fixed, so read the whole listing before you buy. Ring listings at Once Legos show the size, a condition grade and photos of the exact item. Check the size against your measurement, then use the photos to look at the inside of the band and the raised areas for wear. How we authenticate and grade pieces is explained on the FAQ.

All sales are final, apart from the narrow exceptions listed on the FAQ, so confirm your size before you pay. If you are in New York, you can try pieces on during a private, one-on-one appointment at our NYC showroom, which is open by appointment only.

Can a Chrome Hearts ring be resized?

Sometimes. Solid sterling silver can be resized by a skilled jeweler, and the usual safe range is one to two sizes up or down. Resizing means cutting the band, adding or removing metal and soldering the join, and that has consequences for a heavily detailed ring:

  • Detail that runs around the full band, such as repeating crosses, scrollwork or lettering, is broken at the cut, and that section of the pattern is lost.
  • Rings with stones set around the band are usually not suitable for resizing.
  • Heat and refinishing can change the surface, so ask the jeweler how they will handle the dark detailing in the recesses and whether they can match it.
  • Each resize puts stress on the soldered join, so a ring should ideally be resized only once.

For a small difference, a ring-size adjuster that sits inside the band is a non-permanent alternative that does not cut the metal. Since a resize cannot be undone, the better plan is to buy the right size in the first place. Chain and necklace lengths

Chrome Hearts chains and pendants come in a range of lengths. On resale listings, paper chains, roll chains and ball chains turn up at 16, 18, 20, 24 and 30 inches. Our necklaces listings show the chain length in the title, such as Size 18 in or Size 30 in, and pendant listings give the pendant's own length, such as 1 in or 1.5 in. Both numbers matter.

Standard jewelry lengths give you a reference for where each one falls:

  • 16 inches: a choker length, sitting at the base of the neck.
  • 18 inches: just below the collarbone. On men this length generally reads as a choker.
  • 20 inches: on most men, upper chest. It is a common length for pendants and dog tags.
  • 24 inches: lower on the chest, and a good length for wearing over a shorter chain.
  • 30 inches and longer: mid-chest on men, often chosen for a pendant meant to be seen on its own or for layering.

Two things shift those numbers. Larger pendants pull a chain lower, and thick chains look shorter than their stated length, so a heavy chain at 18 inches will sit closer to the neck than a fine one. If you are between lengths, jewelers suggest going slightly longer, because a chain that is too short is uncomfortable, while one that is slightly long is easy to live with.

The short version

Measure your finger at the end of the day and match the circumference to the list above. Add half a size for wide, heavy or sculpted bands, and take the larger size if you are between two. Convert any ring that is not marked US. Remember that resizing a detailed silver ring has limits, so choose the size carefully before buying. For chains, 18 inches is the baseline, 20 inches suits most men for a pendant, and longer lengths suit layering. Häufig gestellte Fragen

Do Chrome Hearts rings run small?
The sizing is standard US sizing, but wide and heavy bands feel tighter than slim ones in the same size. Jewelers generally advise going up half a size for wider styles. Measure the finger you will wear the ring on, and take the larger size if you are between two.
Are Chrome Hearts ring sizes the same for men and women?
Yes. There is no separate men's or women's scale. US ring sizes are based on the inside diameter of the ring, and the same numbers apply to everyone. Choose by the measurement of the finger the ring will sit on, not by the label.
Should I go up a size for a wide Chrome Hearts ring?
Usually, yes. A wide band covers more of the finger and sits higher, so it feels tighter than a thin band in the same size. Many people go up half a size for wide, sculpted or cluster rings, and measure their knuckle as well as the base of the finger.
Can a Chrome Hearts ring be resized?
Often, if it is solid sterling silver, a skilled jeweler can resize it by one to two sizes. Patterns that run all the way around the band and stone settings make resizing difficult or impossible, and the dark detailing may need to be refinished. A ring-size adjuster is a non-permanent alternative.
What chain length should I get for a Chrome Hearts pendant?
For most men, 20 inches puts a pendant on the upper chest, while 18 inches sits just below the collarbone and reads as a choker. Go to 24 or 30 inches for a lower, layered look. Larger pendants pull a chain lower, and thick chains look shorter than their stated length.
How do I check my size when buying a pre-owned ring?
Compare the size in the listing with your own measurement in millimeters, and check whether it is a US size. Ring listings at Once Legos show the size, a condition grade and photos of the exact item. Sales are final apart from the exceptions on our FAQ, so confirm the size before you buy.
