Chrome Hearts Hoodie Guide: Horseshoe, Scroll, Cemetery Cross and Zip-Up Styles
The Chrome Hearts hoodie designs collectors look for most, what the fabric and hardware should be, and what to inspect before you buy a pre-owned piece.

The Chrome Hearts hoodies collectors look for most fall into a handful of design families: horseshoe logo, scroll and vertical lettering, cemetery cross prints, leather cross patches, thermal-lined versions, city exclusives and artist collaborations such as Matty Boy. Chrome Hearts' own listings for its cotton hoodies give a consistent specification: 100% cotton, made in the USA, with .925 sterling silver grommets on the drawstring. Zip-ups are usually described with a sterling silver dagger zipper pull. This guide walks through each family and what to look for on a pre-owned piece.
We are keeping this guide to designs, fabrics and condition. For fit, see our Chrome Hearts sizing guide for hoodies, tees and jeans, and for spotting fakes, see how to tell if a Chrome Hearts hoodie or T-shirt is real.

What a Chrome Hearts hoodie is made of
Chrome Hearts' own product pages are the best reference. Archived listings for its pullover hoodies, including a foil-print style from 2025, carry the same short specification: 100% cotton, made in the USA, an adjustable drawstring and .925 sterling silver grommets, which are the metal eyelets the drawstring passes through. The same details lines name the decoration, for example foil print, stencil print or a tonal all-over print. Chrome Hearts makes most of its clothing in Hollywood, California.
That answers two questions that come up constantly in searches. Is a Chrome Hearts hoodie polyester? The official hoodie listings we checked say cotton, and retailer descriptions of the classic styles say heavyweight cotton fleece. And where are they made? The listings say the USA. There are exceptions within the range, though. A nylon cemetery cross hoodie has been sold, so read the fabric label on a specific piece instead of assuming.
The main Chrome Hearts hoodie designs
Most hoodies can be placed in one of the families below. Many pieces combine two, such as a horseshoe on the chest with a scroll or floral cross graphic on the sleeves.
Horseshoe logo hoodies
The horseshoe, with the brand name set in a horseshoe shape, is the design most people picture when they think of a Chrome Hearts hoodie. On hoodies it usually sits on the left chest, and many versions add sleeve artwork, such as a floral cross graphic running down both arms. You will find it on pullovers and zip-ups, in black, white and a range of colours. It is the most recognizable starting point if you want one piece that is clearly Chrome Hearts.
Scroll and vertical logo hoodies
These rely on lettering rather than an emblem. Scroll hoodies carry the brand's blackletter script on the chest and often repeat it down the sleeves. Vertical logo hoodies stack the name in a vertical line, typically on the sleeves and chest, and some are lined (more on that below). They sit differently from the horseshoe designs and suit buyers who prefer the wordmark.
Cemetery cross hoodies
Cemetery cross designs use a dense pile of overlapping crosses, often printed large on the back. One widely discussed version has the crosses in several colours, including white, red, green, blue, yellow and light pink, centred on the back, with the brand name in blackletter down the sleeves and each letter in a different colour. Tonal black-on-black versions exist as well, and a nylon version with the cross print on the front and back has also been released.
Cross patch hoodies
Cross patch pieces carry leather cross patches that retailer descriptions say are sewn on by hand, rather than printed. Triple cross patch zip-ups and knit cross patch hoodies are among them. Because the patches are separate pieces of leather, they are the area to inspect most closely on a pre-owned hoodie: look at the stitching, the edges and any cracking.
Thermal-lined hoodies
Thermal-lined versions add a plush thermal lining inside a heavyweight cotton shell. They turn up in horseshoe and vertical logo designs, as pullovers and as zip-ups. They are the warmer option, and the lining is worth checking inside for matting or pilling.
City exclusives
Chrome Hearts boutiques carry exclusive clothing, and hoodies are a common format. Las Vegas, Miami and New York versions have all been sold, usually adding the city name in scroll lettering to a horseshoe or cemetery cross design. Collectors care whether a hoodie is a genuine city release, so confirm where a piece came from rather than assuming from the print alone.
Matty Boy and collaboration hoodies
The Matty Boy line comes from Los Angeles artist Matt DiGiacomo, who is described in press coverage as the brand's creative director. His work is closely tied to the Sex Records imprint, which first appeared in 2018. His hoodies pair Chrome Hearts lettering with bright colours and cartoon-like graphics. Other collaborative hoodies, including a 2018 release with Off-White, have also become collectible.
Zip-up or pullover?
Pullovers are the style described above, with the drawstring and grommets and no opening down the front. Zip-ups swap the pullover body for a full zip, and retailer descriptions of Chrome Hearts zip-ups commonly mention a sterling silver dagger zipper pull. That pull is both a design feature and a thing to check on a pre-owned piece: confirm it is present, the metal is not bent and the zipper runs smoothly from bottom to top. Chrome Hearts has also released limited zip-ups, such as a white 2020 style with glow-in-the-dark details on the sleeves.
Practically, a zip-up is easier to layer over a tee and to open up indoors, while a pullover tends to show off a large chest or back graphic more cleanly because nothing runs down the middle.
What to check on a pre-owned hoodie
- Print condition: hold the print to the light and look for cracking, peeling or a rough texture, especially on foil and heavy prints.
- Fleece and lining: look inside for pilling or matting, particularly on thermal-lined versions.
- Cuffs, hem and hood: ribbing should spring back. Stretched cuffs and a wavy hem are common wear points.
- Hardware: the drawstring should be present with both ends, the grommets secure, and on zip-ups the dagger pull intact.
- Patches and embroidery: check for loose stitching, lifting edges and anything missing.
- Fading and stains: on black hoodies, look for a washed-out, cloudy fade across the shoulders and sleeves.
- Measurements: ask for chest, length and sleeve in inches or centimeters, since the label alone does not tell you how a worn hoodie sits.
At Once Legos every piece is physically in hand and authenticated before it is listed, and each listing shows one of five condition grades: Brand New, Excellent, Great, Good or Fair. Every issue on a Fair piece is photographed and disclosed. All sales are final, so the grade and the photos are what you rely on. Our FAQ explains how we grade.
Caring for a Chrome Hearts hoodie
Chrome Hearts' own listings for a cotton hoodie and matching sweatpants include a care line reading machine wash cold, tumble dry low, remove promptly, do not bleach and do not iron the decoration. Treat that as a starting point and read the label on your own piece, since nylon, knit and thermal-lined styles may differ. Turning a printed hoodie inside out before washing is a sensible habit.
Where to find the right hoodie
Our hoodies and zip-ups page is where horseshoe, scroll, vertical logo and collaboration pieces turn up, each with a condition grade, and the sweatpants page has bottoms to match. To handle pieces yourself, book a private one-on-one visit at our NYC Showroom. If you own a hoodie you are thinking of selling, send photos through Sell To Us for a same-day offer.
The bottom line
Decide the family first: horseshoe for the classic look, scroll or vertical lettering for the wordmark, cemetery cross for a bold back graphic, cross patch for hand-sewn leather and thermal-lined for warmth. Then judge the individual piece on its print, hardware and wear rather than the design alone. A rare design in poor condition is a different purchase from the same design in excellent shape.

- The designs collectors ask for most are horseshoe logo hoodies, scroll and vertical lettering hoodies, cemetery cross prints, leather cross patch pieces, thermal-lined versions, city exclusives such as Las Vegas and Miami, and Matty Boy collaboration hoodies. - What is a Chrome Hearts hoodie made of?
- Chrome Hearts' own listings for its cotton hoodies state 100% cotton, with .925 sterling silver grommets on the drawstring and a made in the USA label. Retailer descriptions of the classic styles say heavyweight cotton fleece. Some styles differ, for example a nylon cemetery cross hoodie, so check the fabric label on the exact piece.
- Is a Chrome Hearts hoodie polyester?
- The official hoodie listings we checked say 100% cotton, so the classic pullovers are not polyester. A few special styles use other fabrics, and a nylon cemetery cross hoodie has been released, which is why reading the label on a specific piece is better than assuming.
- Are Chrome Hearts hoodies made in the USA?
- Chrome Hearts' own hoodie listings say made in the USA, and the brand produces most of its clothing in Hollywood, California. Some limited and collaboration pieces may be produced differently, so check the label and listing details for the specific hoodie.
- Do Chrome Hearts zip-up hoodies have a dagger zipper pull?

- How do you wash a Chrome Hearts hoodie?
