Chrome Hearts Gold Jewelry: 22k Gold, White Gold and How to Buy It
How Chrome Hearts gold jewelry differs from the silver, which karats to expect, how to read the stamps and diamonds, and what to check before buying.

Yes, Chrome Hearts makes solid gold jewelry alongside its sterling silver. The karat you will meet most often on the pre-owned market is 22k yellow gold, 18k white gold is also documented, and many gold pieces are set with real diamonds. Gold differs from silver in four practical ways: it is far denser, it is softer, it does not tarnish, and it carries a karat stamp alongside the Chrome Hearts mark.
Once Legos is an independent NYC reseller of authenticated pre-owned Chrome Hearts. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorized by Chrome Hearts. This guide explains what to know about gold pieces, how they differ from the silver we cover elsewhere, and what to check before you buy one.
What gold Chrome Hearts makes
Chrome Hearts produces its silver, gold and diamond accessories in Hollywood, Los Angeles, and gold sits at the top of that range. The karat you will see most is 22k yellow gold. Documented examples include Baby Fat cross pendants and charms, dagger and dog tag pendants, floral cross rings, the Matty Boy Heart ring, ball-link chains and diamond-set bracelets.
White gold exists too. Stadium Goods lists a Baby Fat cross charm described as solid 18k white gold with hand-set diamonds, and the first Chrome Hearts x Mikimoto jewelry release was built on a white gold foundation, according to Complex. The second Mikimoto capsule, reported by Hypebeast and Complex in July 2026, is made in 22k yellow gold with Akoya pearls and natural diamonds and includes two drop earring styles, so 22k gold is still in production today.
A karat number tells you how much of the metal is gold:
- 22k: 22 parts gold in 24, about 91.7 percent gold.
- 18k: 18 parts in 24, 75 percent gold.
The rest is other metals, such as copper or silver, added to harden the alloy. Pieces you will see are mainly 22k and 18k.
Two questions come up constantly. Does Chrome Hearts make gold-plated jewelry, and does it make rose gold? We could not confirm either as a standard jewelry line from a reliable source, so if a listing claims one, ask for the stamp and a clear explanation before you rely on it.
The main kinds of gold piece
- Pendants and charms: Baby Fat crosses, with or without diamonds, dagger pendants and dog tags. A pendant's size is usually given in inches, so check the listing for it.
- Rings: floral cross rings with pave diamonds, the Bubblegum ring with its trio of small crosses and an engraved Chrome Hearts script inside, and the Matty Boy Heart ring. Rings are sized in US sizes, and some are listed as not resizable.
- Chains and bracelets: ball-link chains, scroll cable and cross-symbol diamond bracelets. Chains are measured in inches, and the chain itself should carry its own karat stamp.
- Earrings: small designs such as the 22k Tiny Baby Fat cross stud, usually sold singly.
Gold vs silver: what is different
Weight
Gold is far denser than silver: about 19.3 g/cm3 against about 10.5 for silver, so gold is nearly double. Gold pieces feel heavy for their size, and some are heavy in absolute terms. One 22k Matty Boy Heart ring was listed at 37.5 grams, and an auction lot for a 22k Fleur Dagger dog tag pendant and chain gave 45.7 grams for the pendant and 11.2 grams for the chain. Weight is also one of the best ways to separate solid gold from plated or base-metal copies.
Softness
Pure gold is soft, with a Mohs hardness of about 2.5, and jewelers add other metals to harden it. At 22k a piece is closer to the soft end than 18k, so it will pick up scratches and small dents more readily. That is worth knowing if a piece has diamonds, because jewelry-grade gold needs to be hard enough to hold stones. Ask for close-ups of the settings and check that every stone sits tight.
Tarnish and patina
Sterling silver reacts with sulfur in the air and darkens, which is why Chrome Hearts silver develops its dark recesses. Gold itself does not tarnish or corrode under normal conditions, and 22k is more than 91 percent gold, so a gold piece stays bright and mainly shows wear as surface scratching. The cleaning method is simpler as well: warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, as set out in our guide to cleaning Chrome Hearts silver and 22k gold.
How to read the stamps on a gold piece
Gold pieces are typically marked with the maker's mark, a date and a karat stamp. In one auction lot, a 22k pendant was described as signed Chrome Hearts, dated 1998 and stamped 22K, while its ball-link chain was signed CH, dated 2006 and stamped 22K. The pendant and chain carried different years, so a pendant and its chain may not date from the same time. Compare each part with references for that part rather than assuming the years must match.
- Karat mark: look for the karat stamp on the piece itself, such as 22K. Marks such as GP, GF or RGP mean the gold is only on the surface, not throughout the piece.
- Maker's mark and year: they should be crisp and consistent with known examples of that design, with evenly spaced, deep characters.
- Limits of a stamp: stamps can wear down, some older pieces are unclear, and counterfeit stamps exist, so a stamp is a starting point, not proof.
- Weight: ask for the weight in grams, since a solid gold piece should be much heavier than a plated or base-metal copy of the same size.
Most of the method in our guide to how to tell if Chrome Hearts jewelry is real applies to gold too: stamp font and spacing, casting depth and overall finish. For a high-value gold piece, an independent test by a jeweler is a sensible extra step.
Diamonds and 'factory' stones
The documented Chrome Hearts diamond pieces use real diamonds. The 22k Fleur Dagger dog tag pendant mentioned above was described by the auction house as set with about 183 round brilliant-cut diamonds totaling about 4.63 carats, and the Mikimoto capsule uses natural diamonds. Stadium Goods describes an 18k white gold Baby Fat charm as hand-set with diamonds and a 22k Baby Fat pendant as pave-set.
Resale listings, including ours, use the label 'factory diamonds' for stones generally understood to be set by Chrome Hearts itself, as opposed to stones added later by another jeweler. Aftermarket stones can change how a piece is judged and what it is worth, so ask which it is, and ask for close-up photos of the stones and their settings.
A buying checklist for gold
- Photos of the karat stamp, the Chrome Hearts mark and the year, taken straight on and lit from the side.
- The weight in grams and the size: the length in inches for chains and the height for crosses and pendants.
- Whether the pendant and chain are both gold. Check the karat on each part separately.
- Whether any diamonds are factory-set, with close-ups of the stones and settings.
- The condition grade, and photos of any scratches or dents, which show more readily on gold.
- The terms of sale. At Once Legos all sales are final, which is why every piece is physically in hand and authenticated before it is listed.
Wearing and storing gold
Because gold is soft, give each piece its own pouch and keep it away from harder pieces, especially anything set with diamonds, which can scratch it. You can mix a gold piece with silver rather than choosing one metal. The main practical point is that gold keeps its color while silver darkens, so the silver pieces will look more aged next to it over time.

Payment is released once the piece is in our hands and passes authentication.
The bottom line
Chrome Hearts gold is solid, dense, soft and bright, and it is stamped differently from the silver. Look for the karat stamp, ask for the weight, find out whether the diamonds are factory-set, and treat any claim about plating or rose gold with caution until you can see the stamp.
Häufig gestellte Fragen
- Does Chrome Hearts make real gold jewelry?
- Yes. Chrome Hearts makes solid gold jewelry in Hollywood, mainly in 22k yellow gold, with 18k white gold pieces also documented. Gold pieces should carry a karat stamp alongside the Chrome Hearts mark and year, and many are set with real diamonds.
- What karat is Chrome Hearts gold?
- The karat you will see most is 22k, which is about 91.7 percent gold. 18k, which is 75 percent gold, appears on white gold pieces such as an 18k white gold Baby Fat cross charm. Always look for the karat stamp on the piece itself rather than relying on the listing title.
- How can you tell if Chrome Hearts gold is real?
- Check the karat stamp, the Chrome Hearts mark and year, and the weight. Gold is almost twice as dense as silver, so a solid gold piece should be heavy for its size. Stamps can be copied, so for a high-value piece, a hands-on inspection and an independent jeweler's test are worth it.
- Does Chrome Hearts gold tarnish?
- No, not like silver. Gold itself does not tarnish or corrode under normal conditions, and 22k is more than 91 percent gold, so it stays bright. It is soft, though, so scratches and dents are the main concern. Clean it with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, and store it separately from other jewelry.
- Does Chrome Hearts make white gold, rose gold or gold-plated jewelry?
- White gold is documented, including an 18k white gold Baby Fat cross charm and the white gold first release of the Chrome Hearts x Mikimoto collaboration. We could not confirm rose gold or gold-plated jewelry as standard lines from a reliable source, so ask for the stamp if a listing claims either.
- Does Chrome Hearts use real diamonds?
- The documented Chrome Hearts diamond pieces use real diamonds. One 22k dog tag pendant was described as set with about 183 round brilliant-cut diamonds, and the Mikimoto capsule uses natural diamonds. Ask whether the stones are factory-set or were added later, because aftermarket stones can affect how a piece is judged.
