Chrome Hearts Exclusives Explained: City, Store and Art Basel Releases
What people mean by a Chrome Hearts exclusive, which releases are actually documented (Miami Art Basel capsules, store-specific hats) and how to check a seller's claim before you buy.

A Chrome Hearts exclusive is a piece sold only at one boutique, in one city or for one event, rather than across the brand's stores. The best-documented examples are the Art Basel capsules that Chrome Hearts released through its Miami Design District store, which the fashion press described as exclusive to that location, and city-named pieces such as Las Vegas, New York and Los Angeles hats. Beyond those, be careful: Chrome Hearts does not publish a list of exclusives, and the word is also a sales term on resale listings, so it is worth verifying before you pay for it.
This guide separates what we could confirm from reputable sources from what is only a label on a listing. Once Legos is an independent NYC reseller of pre-owned Chrome Hearts. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by or authorized by Chrome Hearts, and nothing here is an official Chrome Hearts statement.
What exclusive means at Chrome Hearts
Chrome Hearts built its business around its own boutiques. Its official locations page lists stores in the Americas (including Aspen, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Malibu, Miami, New York and St. Barth), across Asia (including Tokyo, Hong Kong, Seoul and Taipei) and in Europe (London, Manchester, Paris and Cannes). A 2020 Complex profile counted 28 stores and described the brand as having no e-commerce presence, so releases have traditionally been tied to where you could physically walk in.
In collector shorthand, an exclusive usually means one of two things:
- A city or location piece, which carries a place name or is sold at a single store, such as a hat with a Las Vegas patch.
- An event or capsule piece, made for a moment such as Art Basel in Miami and sold at that city's store during the event.
Neither category is an official Chrome Hearts label. The brand does not publish exclusives lists or release calendars that we could find, which is why documented examples from press coverage are the most reliable reference points.
Miami and Art Basel: the best-documented exclusives
Chrome Hearts opened its Miami store in the Design District in late 2014. Wonderland Magazine reported that it launched in December 2014, timed with Art Basel, with Fahey/Klein Gallery upstairs. In the years since, Art Basel week has repeatedly been the moment for new releases and installations at that store.
2018: the Off-White and COMME des GARÇONS capsule
Hypebeast reported in December 2018 that Chrome Hearts launched a limited capsule available exclusively at its Miami Design District store, with graphic hoodies, long- and short-sleeved tees, sweatpants, bags and sunglasses. The collaborators named included Off-White, COMME des GARÇONS, Baccarat, Matt DiGiacomo and The Elder Statesman.
2019: the warm-weather capsule
A year later, Hypebeast described another Art Basel capsule exclusive to the Miami store: a short-sleeved shirt, zippered shirt dress, trousers, shorts and a gathered skirt, all in dark navy with layered Chrome Hearts crosses and Olde English lettering, finished with metal-tipped drawstrings and silver buttons.
2021: a basketball court installation
In December 2021, Chrome Hearts showed a hand-carved basketball hoop at Art Basel in Miami, with a sterling silver chain net on a regulation-size court installation at the Institute of Contemporary Art Miami. Artsy reported that the Design District store carried sports-themed merchandise, from boxing robes to golf bags and baseball bats. Hypebeast noted there was no word on a retail release of the hoop itself.
Later years
Resale retailers list Miami Art Basel pieces from more recent years, including 2025 items marked as exclusive. We did not find brand statements or major press coverage describing those releases, so treat the year and the exclusivity as the seller's description until you can match the design to a dated source.
Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York
Chrome Hearts has long had a presence in Las Vegas. Time Out lists a store in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace, and Chrome Hearts was among the initial retail tenants announced for Fontainebleau Las Vegas, which opened in December 2023. Hats are where the city names show up most clearly: the black trucker hat pictured at the top of this page carries a CH cross patch that reads Las Vegas, and we have listed Las Vegas and NYC versions that we describe as location-exclusive. Check what is in stock on our trucker hats page.
Los Angeles is the clearest example of how a city hat differs from the standard release. According to StockX's listing, the CH Los Angeles trucker hat is exclusive to the brand's Robertson Boulevard store, which separates it from the standard Hollywood trucker hat that is distributed worldwide. StockX also describes an LA-exclusive Dodger Blue baseball cap with an embroidered CH on the front and a sterling silver button on top. Those are marketplace descriptions rather than brand statements, so they are good leads but not final proof.
Tokyo, Paris, London and other cities
Search suggestions show collectors looking for Tokyo, Paris and London exclusives, particularly in hoodies, jeans, long sleeves and hats, and resale listings use those labels freely. We could not find brand or major press documentation that describes specific city lines the way Art Basel capsules are documented. That does not mean such pieces do not exist, only that the label cannot be verified from public sources.
If you are shopping for one, treat it as a claim to investigate. Ask the seller where and when the piece was bought, ask for photos of the tags, and look for the city name on the garment itself.
Common mix-ups
- Collaboration is not the same as exclusive. A collaboration can be sold widely, and the 2018 Art Basel capsule was both a collaboration and a store exclusive.
- A city name is not always a city exclusive. Hollywood is also the brand's home base and the name on its standard trucker hat, so check which design you are actually looking at.
- The year on a listing may be the year of the event, the year of the release or the year it was bought. Match the design to a dated source instead of trusting the caption.
- Store-exclusive and region-exclusive are different claims. Ask which one the seller means.
How to verify an exclusive claim
- Look for the city or event on the piece. A patch, print or label that names the place is a stronger signal than a seller's caption.
- Find a dated source. Art Basel capsules were covered by Hypebeast and others, so a claim about the 2018 or 2019 capsules should match what was reported.
- Compare with a confirmed example of the same release, including tags and stitching.
- Ask how the seller knows. A seller who bought it in the store can say so, and a seller who is repeating a listing title cannot.
- Authenticate the base item as you would any piece. An exclusive label says nothing about whether the piece is genuine.
That last step matters most. If the exclusive is a hat, start with our guide to how to tell if a Chrome Hearts hat is real. The same inner-label, stitching and hardware checks apply to a city hat as to any other.
Do exclusives hold their value?
Scarcity can help, but it is only one factor next to design, condition and demand. We keep prices out of our guides because they change, and our guide to what holds its value in Chrome Hearts resale covers the factors that matter. Condition especially: every Once Legos listing carries one of five grades, Brand New, Excellent, Great, Good or Fair, so you can see what you are getting.
Finding a specific exclusive
Because exclusives were sold in one place, they are rarely easy to find years later. You can browse what is currently in stock in our hats category. To see pieces in hand, book a private visit at our NYC Showroom. If you own an exclusive you would like to sell, Sell To Us gives same-day offers once photos are reviewed. Our FAQ explains how we authenticate and grade every piece.
The bottom line
Exclusive is not an official Chrome Hearts category. The most reliable exclusives are the ones you can trace to a store, a city and a date, like the Miami Art Basel capsules and the city-named hats. Everything else is a claim to verify, and every exclusive still needs to be authenticated as a piece in its own right.
Häufig gestellte Fragen
- What is a Chrome Hearts exclusive?
- Usually a piece sold at one store, in one city or for one event rather than across all stores. Examples include the Art Basel capsules sold at the Miami Design District store and city-named hats. It is not an official Chrome Hearts category, and the brand does not publish a list, so verify any exclusive claim.
- What is a Chrome Hearts Miami Art Basel exclusive?
- A piece released at the Chrome Hearts Miami Design District store for Art Basel week. Hypebeast reported the 2018 and 2019 capsules as exclusive to that store, with the 2018 collection including collaborations with Off-White and COMME des GARÇONS. For later years, check any listing against a dated source, because resale labels are not proof.
- Are Chrome Hearts Las Vegas and Los Angeles hats exclusive?
- City-named hats exist, and StockX describes the CH Los Angeles trucker hat as exclusive to the Robertson Boulevard store. We list Las Vegas and NYC hats that we describe as location-exclusive. These come from marketplace and reseller descriptions, not an official Chrome Hearts list, so compare against a confirmed example.
- Does Chrome Hearts publish a list of its exclusives?
- Not that we could find. The brand sells mainly through its own boutiques and does not publish a release calendar, so the most reliable references are dated press coverage and the tags and design on the piece itself.
- Can you buy Chrome Hearts exclusives online?
- Not from the brand's own website, which as far as we could see offers only a limited selection. Exclusives that were sold in a single store generally resurface through pre-owned sellers, where authentication and a clear seller policy matter even more. See our guide to buying Chrome Hearts online safely.
- How do I know a Chrome Hearts exclusive is real?
- Confirm two things separately. First, that the piece is genuine, by checking tags, stitching, hardware and construction against a confirmed example. Second, that the exclusive claim holds up: the city or event should appear on the piece, and it should match a dated source. A genuine piece can still be mislabeled as exclusive.
